Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not be just action but will have many role-playing elements
BioWare has explained that the gameplay of Dragon Age: The Veilguard will not be focused on action, but on other aspects that will be decisive.
The presentation video of Dragon Age: The Veilguard , published in recent days, has raised many doubts, some legitimate, others not exactly focused, but which still deserve an answer. One of the most widespread concerns the role-playing components, which seem to have been put aside to favor the action . However, according to design director Corinne Busche, who spoke about it with the RPG Site website, they will be fundamental.
Skill trees
Busche compared Mass Effect to Dragon Age , defining the former as action role-playing games more focused on action, while the latter is the exact opposite. The comparison between the two series, both from BioWare, arose from a question relating to the skill wheel seen in the movie, which is very similar to those of the science fiction series.

However, unlike Mass Effect where there are few skills per class, in Veilguard the skill trees are “huge” , according to Busche. To explain them, Final Fantasy X and its Sphere Grid were brought up . In the center of the grid are the skills of the basic classes, namely Mage, Warrior and Rogue. Advanced skills are found on the outside of the grid, with specialization trees positioned on the outer ring. Players will reach specializations around the mid-game.
There will be much less flexibility when it comes to companion skills : each party member will have five main skills, with their skill trees focused on upgrades. “Neve and Bellara are both mages,” Busche explained, “so they share two class abilities, okay? However, the other three abilities are unique to the class or character.”
