Prince of Persia The Sands of Time wants to give more space to Farah modifying her as necessary
Prince of Persia The Sands of Time wants to be faithful to the original work, but at the same time wants to give more space to Farah by modifying it in the right way and in the right places.
During Ubisoft Forward the French company revealed a series of new features for its upcoming games, clearly dedicating more time to those scheduled for this year such as Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. However, among the many announcements there was also Prince of Persia The Sands of Time , the remake initially revealed in 2020 and immediately heavily criticized by players.
Unfortunately, this footage revealed nothing about the game, other than the new name (it lost the word ‘remake’) and the fact that it is scheduled for 2026 . Luckily, Ubisoft opened up a little more in a new interview and talked about Farah, the game’s main female character.

Ubisoft’s words on Prince of Persia The Sands of Time
Game director Michael McIntyre said . “We’re not going to tell a different story; it’s still the same story that we know from the original, because it was a really good story. It was nice for a love story to be told in a game like that, and so we want to honor that, but there are a lot of nuance in how we can deliver a story that we think will really enrich the player experience.”
“The characters should feel familiar to the player, and that’s a goal for us, but it should feel like a layer is peeled back and you can see more, you can get to know more about them.”
According to McIntyre, the biggest story-related change the remake is making is giving Farah a larger role . “Probably the biggest development we made was to make Farah more present,” she said. “We’re able to add more interactions between her and the Prince, so we get more out of their relationship. They’ll just spend more time around each other.”
Bio Jade creative director Adam Granger added : “One of the things I’m very passionate about is modernizing Farah. While she was a fantastic character in the original, I think she lacked agency and depth as a person. So we have her made a true companion; she is a true ally, but she is also a person in all respects, with a background, desires, tastes It’s not playable.”
“For us, the affection between the two has to be earned , and it has to be realistic or relatable for her to fall in love with the Prince and vice versa. That said, we’re keeping the plot as is; we’re not adding tons of extra scenes What we add for Farah is often optional, to give her more depth without prolonging the narrative too much.”
