Update May 20th : new update on the story, with Dusk Golem claiming to have absolutely confirmed nothing of what emerged about Resident Evil 1 Remake. Indeed, ideally a good part of the rumors in question could be false, according to the famous insider.Update at 12.35pm on May 19, 2024 – Dusk Golem, a well-known insider expert in horror games and Resident Evil, has corroborated the rumors reported in this news, confirming the existence of Resident Evil Remake, the release in 2026 and also the presence of a new third-person camera.
Original news from May 18, 2024 follows – The remake mission on which Capcom has embarked somewhere in this part could soon also affect the first Resident Evil , at least according to some rumors that were spread at the beginning of the week. The intention would be to launch this new remake in 2026 as part of the series’ 30th anniversary celebrations.
While the community of enthusiasts continues to question the real existence of a remake of Resident Evil 1 due out in 2026 , the topic has come back into vogue again in recent hours when Biohazard Declassified has shared further rumors regarding the project, whose title workmanship would be BIOHAZARD: RE1 .
According to the mysterious leaker, the Resident Evil 1 remake would have a more sedate gameplay pace than that of Resident Evil 2 Remake , while the zombies would have unique and completely different models from each other – a goal that Capcom would have achieved by virtue of the small number of enemies that populate Villa Spencer. Compared to the undead of the remake of the second episode, they would also be more resistant to gunshots. The leaker goes on to say that the remake will further delve into the lore of Resident Evil 1 and mark the return of the Crimson Heads , a zombie variant that first appeared in the 2002 GameCube remake.
As for the view, there would also be a “different third-person camera” and the abandonment of pre-rendered backdrops in favor of the rendering of highly detailed rooms: according to the leaker, to guarantee high-level graphics and lighting one room would be loaded into memory at a time, while the assets of the next would be loaded only when the respective door was opened.
All very suggestive, right? However, we advise you to take every single word with a pinch of salt, since they come from a source that is impossible to verify . We remind you that for some time there have also been rumors of Resident Evil 9 Apocalypse (a game which, according to the leaker Dusk Golem, would be destined to complete the trilogy that began with Resident Evil 7) and a remake of Resident Evil 5. The future of the saga appears decidedly rich, no doubt about it
For the record, I’ve never commented anywhere that a new remake of RE1 is happening for the series 30th anniversary in anyway. Multiple people online have tried to attach that to me, but I’ve never said anything of the sort. In big part since I think the rumor is bullshit.
