American chart: Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the best-selling game of March
Circana (formerly NPD) reported sales of games and consoles for March 2024. The market volume was $4.8 billion. They spent $4.2 billion on games and subscriptions, and $391 million on consoles. They invested $242 million on accessories.
The leader of March in the games segment was Dragon’s Dogma 2, which displaced Helldivers 2 from first place. Another new product of the month, Rise of the Ronin, started in fifth place. The wrestling simulator WWE 2K24 took ninth place.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 has become the third best-selling game in the US since the beginning of the year, while Helldivers 2 continues to hold the top spot.
In just one month of sales, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has already outsold Dragon’s Dogma and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen combined in monetary terms in just one month of release.
Console sales fell 32% compared to a year earlier. Year on year, the performance of PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch dropped by at least 30%. During the first quarter, console sales decreased by 24%.
The leader in consoles was the PS5 – in monetary and unit terms. Next comes the Nintendo Switch (in unit terms), followed by the Xbox Series X|S in monetary terms.
