3 CALL OF DUTY GAMES THAT MAYBE WERE NOT NECESSARY: THEY JUST DIDN’T MAKE THEIR MARK

Since the first episode in 2003 until today, countless Call of Duty games have been produced, including main chapters and spin-offs. Many of these have received critical and public acclaim, but there have also been titles that have quickly fallen into oblivion without any regrets.

Below we talk about three Call of Duty games that perhaps weren’t needed , not necessarily bad games but that certainly didn’t win over fans as Activision had hoped:

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Despite the involvement of an actor of the caliber of Kevin Spacey as an antagonist in the campaign, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare failed to win over the hearts of fans.

Despite the positive critical reception and the rich multiplayer components, the futuristic setting at the base of the 2014 title by Sledgehammer Games did not convince players and the feeling is that many of the previous CODs have done better in practically every area. In the past there have been rumors about the possible existence of COD Advanced Warfare 2 , but who knows if a similar project will ever materialize.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

For the first time, a main Call of Duty arrives on the market without a single player campaign, thus focusing everything on multiplayer, also offering a 100-player Battle Royale mode (Blackout) and a Zombie mode with a strong focus on co-op. There has often been discussion in the past about the actual usefulness of a campaign for a series strongly focused on multiplayer, so it made sense to do an experiment in 2018 with Call of Duty Black Ops 4. However , Treyarch’s

work was quickly forgotten and the decision to remove the purely single player portion from the content was not well received by players. Activision then backtracked and since then all subsequent main CODs have offered the campaign again.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

Released in 2013, Call of Duty Ghosts came after the conclusion of the original COD Modern Warfare trilogy and a COD Black Ops II that was quite well received by the community (by the way, did you know that COD Black Ops 6 made this ending of Black Ops 2 canon ?). It therefore made sense for Activision to start a new branch of its flagship franchise, but unfortunately not everything went smoothly with Ghosts. Infinity Ward

‘s game didn’t have a great reception from critics and even the users weren’t impressed by the campaign and multiplayer. COD Ghosts can be considered in a certain sense as a transitional chapter without infamy and without praise, very often forgotten even by Activision itself.
